4th March 2010 - Visit of Blue Watch

Parent Clare Louth brought her colleagues from Blue watch to visit Pre-Prep and Prep who all got a chance to look around the engine and take a glimpse into the life of a firefighter.

4th March 2010 - Eco Club plants up

Prep Eco Club took the opportunity of a slight improvement in the weather to start planting up the grounds of the School. A Standard Ballerina Rose Bush now stands tall in front of the main entrance.

3rd March 2010 - Prep School goes Back and to the Future

This week Year 6 visited Styal Mill to help History come alive with Year 6 visiting Jodrell Bank to take a look at the stars. (Pictures to follow)

2nd March 2010 - Cancer Research UK visit

Year 7, with their chocolate tombola raised £95 for Cancer Research UK. Representatives of the charity gave an assembly to Senior School in receiving the cheque. Our 'Party in the Park' in April will include a Cancer Research UK 'Donation Station' for the collection of Second Hand Clothes and Bric-a-brac to sell in their shops.

26th February 2010 - ISA Cross Country Nationals

Jessica Griffiths and Hannah Oultram joined the ISA North Cross Country Team at the National Championships in Rugby. The North Team were victorious with Jessica coming in 5th in her race.

2nd February 2010 - Chill Factore trip for Skiers

Forty eight pupils and 4 staff prepared for the Ski Trip to Italy with a visit to Chill Factore. Experienced Skiers and Snowboarders took on the main slope whilst beginners were given a lesson, some for the very first time.

29th January 2010 - Help for Haiti

Pupils from all sections of the school joined to raise money to help the people of Haiti in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake. HATS for Haiti saw a variety of headgear being worn and HANDS for Haiti gave Senior pupils the opportunity to donate money and add their handprint to the main Entrance Foyer. Altogether we raised over £500.

29th January 2010 - ISA Cross Country

Thirty Seven runners from Hillcrest competed in the ISA North Cross Country at Kingswood College. In very cold and muddy conditions everyone did well with Jess Griffiths coming third in the Girls U14 race. Joining her in the National Finals will be Hannah Oultram who, at 16, made the North U19 team.

20th January 2010 - Punch and Judy

Year 7 pupils performed an evening of "Punch and Judy" for an audience of families and friends. With booths created by Mr. Buckingham and puppets made by Miss Hammond, Mr. Hillary brought 6 performances in one together in three locations around school. The combination of puppetry and live action was enjoyed by both audience and performers alike. The press release can be viewed here.

16th January 2010 - GCSE Options Evening

Our GCSE Options Evening will be held in the Main Hall at 7pm on Thursday 4th February 2010. Mr. Williams, Miss Butterworth and Mrs. Teale will talk about the choices on offer and the support available in years 10 and 11. Prospective parents and pupils are warmly invited to join us and should CONTACT the School for further details.

10th January 2010 - 'When you wish upon a Star'

A 24 hour Music Marathon,is to take place from 12.00pm 16th to 12.00pm 17th January 2010 at Hatherlow URC Church Halls, Romiley to raise funds for ”When You Wish Upon A Star”, the Stockport based charity making dreams come true for children with life-threatening illnesses. The charity is best known for taking up to 100 children to Lapland each year to meet Father Christmas but also takes families to Center Parcs and other locations. A number of Hillcrest pupils will be taking part throughout the event. Money is being raised by the performers through sponsorship but anyone wishing to donate can do so through the school.

9th January 2010 - Anabel Kutay

Unfortunately former pupil Anabel was eliminated from BBC's "So you think you can dance". She acquitted herself extremely well and was very unlucky to go out. She can comfort herself with the thought that she is good company being evicted too early from 'Reality TV'!! We wish her all the best in her future career and hope to see her again soon.

8th January 2010 - Anabel Kutay

The school is proud to support former pupil Anabel Kutay in her bid to win BBC Television's "So you think you can dance?". The finals begin on Saturday 9th January at 7pm on BBC1 and we wish her all the best of luck.

7th January 2010 - Snow!!

After two days of closure Mr. and Mrs. McCallion braved the elements to clear pathways around the school to enable us to open up despite the heaviest snowfall in decades. Over 90% of pupils and staff made it into school despite limited transport options. Year 11 pupils began their mock GCSE examinations and all other classes went along as planned (one Prep Art class using the opportunity to use a new medium for their self portraits)

5th January 2010 - Weather Closure

The school is closed to pupils on Tuesday 5th and Wednesday 6th January 2010 due to the adverse weather conditions. This is to ensure the safety of pupils and staff both on school premises and travelling to and from school. A newly revised 'Mock' Examination timetable for Year 11 pupils is available here - a printed copy will be issued when pupils return to school.
